CHANGE: Goal Digging

In December of 2014, I was inspired to host a vision board party. I had about a week to plan, but I was excited. My desire to see this through, overtook my fear of it possibly not happening, or that no one will show up due to short notice. I knew my heart was in the right place. My actions were aligned with the opportunity to share my belief in vision boards, with women who knew or did not know what it was about. I reached out to a select few of women, who in turn showed their support and we had a great time. Great music. Great conversation.

The day I decided to make this happen I was sitting in my cubicle at my normal nine to five looking through a magazine. There I saw a group of women creating vision boards, and in that moment, I said to myself I am going to do this.  In the spirit of serenity and just a few hours, I created the name of the event, found a location, date, time, and created a small list of guests. During that time of preparation and shopping I was impressed with myself. I was not nervous, scared, nor did I second guessed myself; it felt like the right thing to do.

C.H.A.N.G.E. is Challenging the Heart to Achieve and Nurture one's Goals Effectively, the name came about from my goal to change my weaknesses to strengths, procrastination into discipline, and doubts to beliefs. Moreover, I wanted the name to express the purpose of the event. The acronym CHANGE embodies the beliefs of facing one's fears, stepping out-of-the-box, a movement of positive growth and personal development.

In August of 2014, I attended Northern Belle's annual Hat Brunch, and had a very empowering experience. The theme was "Goal Mind", and this phrase influenced the expressive force behind CHANGE-Goal Digging to help guide the direction of my event. When we worked on our vision boards, we had to dig deep within and creatively express our most important goals for 2015.

Even though I did not fear the tasks at hand, I experienced slight fear of the event not being effective. However, to my surprise when I followed-up with the women who attended, their feedback was heart-warming. This has inspired me to not only make this an annual event, but also, to make it bigger than before by connecting and reaching more people. TOAST to 2015!!!
